ADHD. PTSD. GAD. SAD/SD.
Those are a few of the labels that adequately, yet incompletely describe me. You see, due to several adverse childhood experiences, I have spent the last 32 years of my life attempting to get to a place of SURVIVAL before I dare even consider a place of THRIVING.
For me, the conditions that I have been diagnosed with can be debilitating, consuming all that is within me on a given day and often rendering me incapacitated for seasons of my life. What PTSD didn’t consume, Depression stole, and what ADHD didn’t confuse, Anxiety destroyed. The fears and the pain that resided within me were destroying me from the inside out, and I didn’t see a viable path to success ahead of me.
Like any successful runner will tell you, it is easier to win a race when there are no obstacles before you. Yet what they will also tell you is that it is not impossible to win a race that contains obstacles… in fact, in that case, the win is the sweetest when obstacles are present. Obstacles should never define us; how we overcame the obstacles should be all that matters.
CONSIDER THIS: In your opinion, what lies beyond the obstacles of your life? What is currently “blocking your path to success” and how can you navigate past it/them?
